I don’t think my pictures tell a story. My Main focus is the buildings and the soft colors surrounding them. I used line, symmetry, color, and space in every photo. In the first photo I used the lines of the building to make it symmetric in the picture. The white and the blue next to each other makes the photo pleasing. The picture of the houses is my favorite. The green next to the blueish houses is very beautiful and the grayness of the sky adds to the effect of soft colors. The use of symmetry and space in the photo of a church makes it a good photo. I wish I could change the position of the first building only because its at an awkward angle. These photos relate to my own experiences because the photo of the houses is my grandfathers house who passed away recently. I took the photo of the church while participating in The Women’s March, which is very important to me.

I have always been passionate about photography because of all the vintage cameras my grandfathers owned, but I never took pictures of my own with anything other than my phone until this class. I enjoy taking photos of my friends in front of old buildings or just the old building by itself. My style switches between landscape and portrait photography. I enjoy brighter colors to make a certain person or object stand out, although, in my photographs the colors are softer yet the main focus of the photo still stands out. Repetition and symmetry are some of the things that I believe are great aspects in a photo. I think a photo that is pleasing the eye through elements and principals of photography, which is what my main goal is, are amazing photographs. I can be very random with how I take my pictures and what I take them of. I take my camera everywhere I can and take photos of the sky, old buildings, people, and different objects.

I like taking photos of people in front of a beautiful background, but in that scenery the model would be turned around or in a pose that didn’t show their face very much. I would have the model there for depth or mystery. Other photos that are just of my model are usually full body shots and in front of a simple background. I haven’t figured out my preference or every little detail that I prefer but I’m not a photographer that only sticks to one specific thing. I like being very random with my photos and not having a predictable flow to it. I do lean more towards photos of people or having soft colors appear in my photos. I do not try and create a “message” in my photographs. I do not take a photos because of the way it may or may not make someone think. I do like when someone looks at a photo of mine and thinks it’s amazing, but that’s not my reason for taking the photo.

On my blog you can see a good mixture between portrait and scenery photography. There are some sunset and close-up eye photos which seem corny, but they showcase the soft colors and simplicity I strive for. On my blog you can see I love taking photos of scenery like the buildings in New York or Casas Adobes. I do love fashion photography. The idea of taking photos of woman in fancy dresses and in black and white is something I would love to do. Kind of like shooting for a magazine.
